Can anyone get married at Lower Mountains Anglican?

Yes, but please be aware that we only run a Christian wedding ceremony, that is between a man and a woman and in accordance with what the Bible directs concerning marriage.

Can I use my own marriage service?

We are an Anglican Church and use the Marriage service from An Australian Prayer Book (1978). Minor variations are possible but only in consultation with the officiating minister from Lower Mountains Anglican.

As we conduct Christian wedding services you can expect there will be a Bible reading/s, message/talk and prayers.

Do I need to attend church?

We don’t insist on church attendance for couples we are marrying, however if you are not in the habit of attending a church and you still want a Christian marriage, it is very helpful.

Can I ask family and friends to be involved in my wedding service?

Yes, in consult with the officiating minister. Given our wedding service is a Christian service, it is important that those on the platform are professing Christians. We don’t want to ask people to stand before others to declare something that they don’t profess.

This includes Bible readings, Musicians, Pray-ers, special items.

What days of the week could I have my wedding at Lower Mountains Anglican?

Any day other than Sunday and as the church is available. We limit the number of weddings we conduct on any given Saturday to two so as to ensure all involved have ample time to enjoy the occasion.

Which venues are available?

Our church has three available locations:
Glenbrook (seats 300); Blaxland (seats 100); Mt Riverview (seats 50).

Can we use or involve our own Minister?

In discussion with our Senior Minister this may be possible. They would need to be an Anglican minister who holds a current marriage license.

Is preparation necessary?

Yes. We ask all couples to do a Prepare/Enrich Online Survey which we will arrange for you. That survey will then make up part of what is discussed in your meetings with the officiating minister.

We may also recommend other Marriage seminars or courses if available and helpful.

One or both of us have been divorced. Is that an issue?

This is something that you will need to discuss with the minister when you meet. There are additional requirements of those whose previous marriage/s has ended in divorce.

How much notice do we need to give?

We will need at least three months’ notice before we can book the ceremony. Bookings of course are subject to Lower Mountain Anglican Church being available.

Note: the Australian Government requires suitable identification (i.e. 100 points of ID including Birth Certificate) before it will accept your application to get married.

What costs are involved?

Our standard cost for a wedding is $800*. This includes:

  • Marriage preparation – including facilitating the Prepare/Enrich Survey and processing the government paperwork.
  • Wedding preparation – including planning the actual wedding service. The Wedding (as outlined below)
  • A $150 non-refundable deposit is needed to secure the booking.

The Wedding itself includes:

  • the Celebrant (minister) a Site manager
  • Audio Desk operator (LMAP Audio Desk operators only) preparation of legal documentation reserved car spaces for the bridal party.

Note: in the case of non-LMAP Minister being involved, the rates remain the same.

Additional Charges

  • Visual Elements: If you wish to have any visual elements (i.e. Powerpoints, video etc) which will require preparation to use on our system, licensing permissions, and a Video Desk operator – this will incur an additional fee of $150.
  • Live-Stream: LMAP Glenbrook has the capacity to live-stream the service on YouTube ‘Events at LMAP’ which requires a Stream operator – this will incur an additional fee of $150.

Barista fee is $150 if we can provide a barista which will include a supply of coffee beans, disposable cups, milk (full cream, lite and lactose free), tea (black, green, peppermint) and condiments. Note: If your wedding is larger than 100 people, a Coffee machine will not serve your guests fast enough. You would be best placed to use the kitchen urns and coffee plungers or provide your guests with coffee bags.

Please note: Lower Mountains Anglican does not have an liquor license and so no alcohol can be served at any of our locations.

It is expected that the couple will arrange to reset and leave the church in a clean condition. Cleaners can be arranged at extra cost if needed. – That cost is $150, either as prearranged or in the case that the facilities are left in a less than satisfactory condition.

* For regular members of Lower Mountains Anglican Church, please inquire about our member rate.

Can we decorate/rearrange the Auditorium/building for the wedding?

Yes, we hope you will be able to make the space work for your purposes without damaging any property.

Please bear in mind that our buildings are used for many different ministries throughout each week. Your access to the building for decorating or rearranging will be limited to the time available following the previous ministry event. For example, if a ministry were meeting until late on the night before, you won’t have access to the building until the day of your wedding.

It would be helpful to consult with us about what you want to do and when. We know the limitations of the buildings and we will know the timings of ministries that we run around the day of your wedding.

Our expectation is that, after your wedding, you would reset the building to the formation that we use and leave it in a clean condition.

Please note: During school terms (due to Friday Kids and Friday Youth on Fridays), there is no access for set-up to the Glenbrook building until Saturday morning.
