In 2025, the topic for Summer School is ‘The Stranger’s Hope’ and The Rev Dr Alistair Begg, Senior Pastor of Parkside Church in Cleveland, Ohio, author and voice behind Truth For Life Bible-teaching ministry, will bring us talks from the book of 1 Peter.
Alistair summarises the message of 1 Peter as follows:
In his first epistle, the apostle Peter offered encouragement to believers who were suffering persecution from a hostile culture that hadn’t yet been widely influenced by Christianity. To stand firm, these first-century believers needed to understand that their true hope and security was in eternity, purchased for them by the blood of Christ. The same is needed for believers in “post-Christian” cultures nearly two thousand years later. We must remember the heavenly hope that Jesus has obtained for all who once were strangers to Him. And as we look forward to our eternal inheritance that cannot pass away, we fix our eyes on the Lord of all comfort, trusting in His finished work, growing in grace, and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel so that many might be transformed from strangers to Christ into strangers to the world.
In addition to this deep engagement with God’s word, we will hear from many CMS missionaries and guest speakers about how God is building his kingdom around the world. We will also be prompted to consider our role in going to the nations and encouraging others to serve cross-culturally.
